Absent Design and Development Strategy
The project had remained inactive for two years, hindered by a lack of structured planning. Without a clear design and development strategy, meaningful progress was difficult to achieve, eventually resulting in budget strain and prolonged stagnation.
Need for Lean Team Management
With a team consisting of members with multiple different roles including researchers, designers, and developers, efficient coordination and the use of lean management was essential to to ship the project as soon as possible.
Lack of Work Documentation
The team operated remotely, which led to unclear responsibilities and miscommunication. Most decisions were made verbally without formal documentation to refer back to.

Addressing Gaps in Team Roles
Design and Development Strategy
Introduced a structured design and development strategy to restore direction and momentum. Clear objectives, phased deliverables, and realistic timelines were established to guide the team and optimize resource use. By defining a focused roadmap and aligning efforts across disciplines, the project was brought back on track with greater efficiency and accountability.
Phased Launch Approach
To accelerate progress and avoid further delays, the website rollout was divided into two strategic phases. Phase one focused on launching a minimum viable product (MVP) focusing on the platform’s core features, while phase two was dedicated to expanding functionality through secondary services and enhancements, guided by user needs and performance insights.
Lean Team Management and Documentation
To improve coordination and resolve communication issues within the remote team, "ClickUp" was implemented as the primary team management tool. This platform provided a unified space where all tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities could be organized and tracked. Timelines were established, ownership was clearly assigned, and all communication was documented. By moving away from informal verbal communication toward a structured and traceable workflow, the team was able to reduce misunderstandings and maintain steady progress.
Addressing Gaps in Team Roles
Shortcomings in the website’s content were identified, including inconsistent tone of voice, awkward phrasing, and inaccurate translations. These issues created confusion for users, reduced engagement, and contributed to an unpolished perception of Boon. To address this, a copywriter/translator was brought onto the team to manage all written content. This ensured that communication was clear and effective, making the platform easier to navigate and understand.
